Standards, guidelines, and reporting procedures for North Carolina State Roleplay
1. Community Standards
North Carolina State Roleplay is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants. Every member — regardless of rank or tenure — is expected to uphold the standards outlined in this document and our Terms of Service.
Our community operates on the principles of mutual respect, fair play, and collaborative roleplay. Staff are held to the same standards as general members, with additional expectations proportional to their responsibilities.
2. Code of Conduct
- Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Any form of bullying, sexual harassment, threats, stalking, or targeted abuse will result in immediate disciplinary action, up to and including permanent removal.
- Anti-Discrimination: Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited in all community spaces.
- No Retaliation: Retaliating against a member for filing a complaint, providing testimony, or participating in an investigation is itself a violation subject to disciplinary action.
- Honesty & Transparency: Members must be truthful in all communications with staff, including applications, appeals, and IA reports. Providing false information is grounds for disciplinary action.
3. Reporting Violations
If you witness or experience a violation of community standards, you are encouraged to report it. Reports can be submitted through:
- IA Complaint Form: Available on the Forms Dashboard for departmental complaints against members or staff.
- Discord Tickets: Open a support ticket in our Discord server for urgent matters or issues outside the scope of the CMS.
- Direct Staff Contact: Reach out to any community administrator if the matter involves a conflict of interest or if you are uncomfortable using other channels.
All reports are taken seriously and will be investigated promptly. Reporters' identities are kept confidential to the greatest extent possible.
4. Investigation Process
When a report is received, the following process is generally followed:
- Acknowledgment: The reporter receives confirmation that their report has been received.
- Review: An assigned staff member reviews the evidence and may request additional information from parties involved.
- Decision: Based on findings, appropriate action is determined. This may include warnings, suspensions, demotions, or bans.
- Notification: All parties are notified of the outcome where appropriate. Specific details of actions taken against other members may remain confidential.
The investigation timeline depends on the complexity of the case. Staff will provide updates when possible.
5. Appeals Process
Members who receive disciplinary action may have the right to appeal, depending on the nature of the action:
- Ban Appeals: Submitted through the CMS Ban Appeal form (when eligible).
- Disciplinary Appeals: Submitted through the Discipline Appeal form when available.
- Departmental Actions: May be appealed through the department's chain of command or IA process.
Appeals are reviewed by administration. The outcome of an appeal is final and binding.
6. Staff Accountability
Community staff and administrators are subject to the same rules as all members, with heightened expectations:
- Staff must not abuse their administrative privileges for personal gain or to target individuals.
- Staff decisions must be impartial and based on established rules and procedures.
- Conflicts of interest must be disclosed, and staff must recuse themselves from matters involving personal relationships.
- Complaints against staff are investigated by administration and handled with the same rigor as any other complaint.
7. Data & Privacy Compliance
Our handling of member data is governed by our Privacy Policy. Staff with access to member data are expected to:
- Access member information only for legitimate administrative purposes.
- Not share member personal data outside of authorized channels.
- Report any data breaches or unauthorized access immediately to administration.
8. Third-Party Platform Rules
In addition to our community rules, members must comply with the terms of service of all platforms we use:
Violations of third-party platform rules that impact our community may also result in disciplinary action within our community.
9. Updates & Amendments
This Compliance document may be updated as community policies evolve. Changes will be communicated through our Discord server. Continued participation in the community after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised standards.
10. Contact
